Miller, T.;
Parker, D. (1997). Writing for the Reader: A Problem-Solution Approach. 21-27.
Reading and writing an understandable article can be
difficult, however it can be solve by following a strategy. In Writing for the
Reader: A Problem-Solution Approach; Tom Miller and Dee parker´s article shows
a procedure we can write a type of article to emerge readers into the reading.
In my reading of this article, I could
identify a background, the problem which is discussed and the solution this
problem brings which is this kind of format that allows understanding an
article. Moreover, I could find the process of making a Problem-Solution
article. This article was meaningful because of its way it is explained; using appropriate terminology and language.
But now, what makes this article worth to read and how can it help us?
Writing an article is a strict
process; where it has not to be clear just for the writer but for the reader as
well. Problem-Solution Approach is a strategy which helps this problem. We
start this establishing a purpose, after that, we brainstorming ideas. However,
we need to make the article credible and it can be using a survey. The
introduction takes in consideration establishing a relationship with the
reader; it is like a map which helps to follow an order of ideas. In addition,
the introduction has to set the situation, problem and the solution. The
problem is framing with cause and effect sentences; those sentences follow a
sequence and have to be coherent. Paragraphs change from negative to positive
words to introduce the audience to a possible solution; because at some point in this type of article, one expects a switch from
problem to solution. At the end f the article is the conclusion which goes
from the specific point to the general opposite of the introduction.
I felt
that this article about Problem-Solution Approach provides significance issues
that writing an article includes. I totally agree when the author say when we are
writing an article we might focus in a particular group of people, however this
article has to be understandable of a multitude of readers. That is important
because when writing an article we have to keep on mind it is going to be read
worldwide. In addition, this approach gives an order helping people to solve
problems of losing importance in reading. Moreover, it gives an explanation of
each element this article contains; the author presents a neat order making it
easy to understand each idea. I think this article is useful for people who
start writing, it has the necessary elements they need when they are writing an
article. In addition, this article seems to follow the approach they are
talking about.
Evidently this article follows its own
establishments of make an article for a multiple reader; the terminology and
Language is clear and it can be understandable through the context. The tone in
this article is proper making the reading formal and solid do not hesitating or
over telling unnecessary details but going through the point. However, I think
the solution topic needs more development. But, because of these article
present examples like figure 1, I could have a clear idea of what is a solution
in an article about. Although I am not occupied with writing articles, when I
read this article about how this approach works I got interest in it and I got
an idea how to write an article in the future. Finally, I only suggest more
development on the solution topic, in general for me this reading was
successful; they prove their Problem-Solution Approach by writing this article
with this format.
Certainly,
reading this article makes me have a clear idea what do we have to take in
consideration in reading or writing a Problem-Solution article. Indeed, this
article is to readers in general by using a proper language and terminology
still formal, clear and concrete. The background, the problem in this reading
is clearly comprehensible. The writers of this article take considered their
own establishment following their own instruction to make an article for
multiple readers. I felt my reading was meaningful, I learned useful concepts
and how to organize my article in my future projects. Now, reading and writing
an article do not seem like a headache, I just have to follow an appropriate
format which grand the development of my ideas.
